Where can I exchange my money? Where can I find its worth in terms of the local currency?
You can have your money exchanged in any bank or in specialized places for this purpose (many of them are at airports or bus terminals). The Mexican peso is constantly changing its exchange rate in regards to the dollar. The following is a useful link to convert to your currency. http://www.oanda.com/convert/classic
What should I know in order to use my bank account from home?
You can find ATMs all over the city as well as on campus. To use them, your card must belong to an international system, and you will receive your money in pesos, based on the exchange rate of the day. Keep in mind that you’ll be charged a fee from your bank as well as, most likely, from the bank whose ATM you are using.
Make sure to notify your bank that you will be using your card outside your country, so that they do not block your account. It is also useful to bring with you the telephone number of your bank in México, not a 1-800 (which would be a very expensive call), preferably an international toll-free number or the number of an agent of your bank that you can call.
